The circuit shown in the diagram at the right contains two 1.5 Volt batteries battery and 3 resistors: R1 = 2 Ω, R2 = 3 Ω, and R3 = 5 Ω. Below are shown 3 graphs tracking some quantity around the circuit. Indicate the units for each vertical axis and do each graph to the appropriate scale, putting scale markers on the vertical axis of each graph whenever possible.

 

On the first, plot the voltage a test charge would experience as it moved throughout the circuit. Take the zero of the voltage as being at the negative terminal of the left battery.

 


On the second, plot the electric field a test charge would experience as it moved through the circuit.

 

On the third, plot the current one would measure crossing a plane perpendicular to the wire of the circuit as one goes through the circuit. 

 

Explain why you have drawn the graphs the way you did, specifying what basic principles you used to draw your conclusions.
