A two-semester introductory physics class typically contains 28 weeks at a semester-based university and 30 weeks at a trimester-based one.  In each semester approximately 1-1.5 weeks are required for exams, quizzes, and administration, leaving approximately 26-27 weeks of total instructional time in a year.
