One of the models we discuss in this class is the “infinite sheet of uniform charge.” While physics is famous for considering idealizations (e.g., motion in a frictionless vacuum), this one seems particularly extreme. Discuss why you think we go to the trouble to analyze this model in great detail. Give a situation where this model might be used as an approximation and what conditions might support or limit its utility. This is an essay question. Your answer will be judged not solely on its correctness, but for its depth, coherence, and clarity.
