Physics 131 weekly meetings

Page history last edited by wlosert 10 years, 7 months ago

Once a week the instructors, TAs and LAs meet.  What happens at each weekly meeting?

Bird's-Eye View:  The faculty and TAs discuss the big picture of what has been going on in the past week and what is happening in the coming week.  The emphasis will be on the topical focus of the past and next week, and on important pedagogical issues   One important goal of this discussion will be to explicitly identify the connections among the different tasks the students have (recitation, lab, homework, class).  We will also exchange insights into how the students are doing, any areas of difficulty, etc.

Recitation/Lab Training:  The TAs and LAs have a chance to discuss their experiences from the past week.  The TAs and LAs act as students and work in groups to go through the recitation/lab activity for the following week.  This provides an opportunity to become familiar with the activity, and to think about what students might do (and learn from the facilitators about what students have done with these activities before).
