Additional guidelines and resources for final project
A primary goal of this project is to invite more people into the conversations we've been having together in this class. Few science faculty and graduate students have been exposed to the ideas presented in the course, so this is an opportunity for you to communicate some of the most important ideas you've come across and their worth to you as an educator. This project consists of three components:
- A reflective paper on your experiences this semester, ~5 pages single-spaced. In this paper, you should:
- Draw from 2-3 big ideas that stood out to you over the course of the semester, citing relevant readings
- Synthesize across these ideas
- Connect these ideas with specific instructional examples from your field experiences
- Reflect on how your perspective on science teaching and learning has changed, if it has
- A poster or other visual presentation reflecting the main points from your reflective paper.
- Your presentation of your poster to a public audience.
This assignment is intentionally open-ended to allow you the freedom to express yourself and facilitate reflection on your experiences over the semester.

- Rough Poster Outline: April 23, 2014
- Complete Poster Draft: April 30, 2014
- Final Poster & Poster presentation: May 7, 2014
